 PET
imaging is a diagnostic tool that is especially helpful in cancer
care. A PET scan can help stage or access the extent of
a newly found cancer. It is also very effective in determining
if a patient is cancer-free or if more treatment is needed.
There images are also used to evaluate a variety of diseases:
- Examine the effects of cancer therapy
- Examine blood flow to the heart muscle
- Evaluate signs of coronary artery disease
- Detect prior heart attacks
