 Overview

GastroenteologyOur Special Procedures Unit meets our community's needs in the expanding field of Endoscopy.  Board certified specialists work with a multidisciplinary staff to provide diagnosis and treatment to achieve early detection and effective treatment. The Center performs over 2000 procedures annually.

 Services

Upper Endoscopy is used to treat benign and malignant esophageal and stomach disease, and to stop gastrointestinal bleeding from ulcers. Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) is performed to diagnose and treat problems with the biliary system.

Colonoscopy lets the physician look inside your entire large intestine from the lowest part, the rectum, all the way up through the colon to the lower end of the small intestine. The procedure is used to look for early signs of cancer in the colon and rectum. It is also used to diagnose the causes of unexplained changes in bowel habits. Colonoscopy enables the physician to see inflamed tissue, abnormal growths, ulcers and bleeding.

Sigmoidoscopy is the examination of the lining of the rectum

Bronchoscopy is an examination that allows a doctor to see inside the airway. During bronchoscopy, an instrument called a bronchoscope is used to look at the throat, larynx, trachea and lower bronchial airways of the lungs.

Other Therapeutic Interventions:

  • Biliary stents and drains placement
  • Electrocautery to control bleeding
