The Department of Pathology provides a full range of diagnostic services in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Immunology, and Pathology.
Utilizing the most sophisticated computerized and robotic instruments, the laboratory evaluates blood, body fluids and tissue samples to help diagnose and treat every type of disease. The laboratory equipment utilizes state-of-the-art technology to help ensure patient safety in all aspects of testing. The laboratory also provides comprehensive Transfusion Services either directly or through contracted services with the American Red Cross. These services include transfusion of cellular and plasma products, cross matching, anitbody identification, and intraoperative cell salvage.
Therapeutic apheresis services are provided for a wide variety of diseases in neurology, hematology, oncology, and immunology. All tests requests and results are managed in our up to date computer systems and can be retrieved from the hospital network and through the internet. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and support inpatients, outpatients, and an outreach client base.
Outpatient laboratory collection hours are: Weekdays, 7am - 7pm and Saturday, 7am - 11am

The Department is licensed by the New Jersey State Department of Health, certified by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and undergoes voluntary laboratory accreditation by the College of American Pathologists.
The Blood Bank and Transfusion Services are accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks.
The laboratory has been accredited by the College of American Pathologists.
