The Spirit of St. Francis Physician Award is presented to the physician who exemplifies the philosophy of compassion for all people embraced by St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the medical center.
According to Gerard J. Jablonowski, president and CEO of St. Francis, "This year we have chosen a physician who embodies “the Spirit of St Francis”. He is not only an excellent clinician, but also sensitive to the personal needs of our patients and their families. Dr. Nugent contributes to the whole community. St. Francis is fortunate to have him serve on our medical staff.”
Dr. Nugent received his MD degree from the New York Medical College in 1970. He completed his surgical residency at Kingsbridge Veteran’s Hospital and New York Medical College, and his Internship at the Metropolitan Hospital Center. He is board certified in the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Urology.
